On October 9, a Memorandum of Understanding was signed between the chairman of the board of Global Media Group Elnur Abdullayev and the head of the UN Global Compact for Azerbaijan, Samir Mammadov. According to the document, the relevant institutions will implement joint measures to promote sustainable business practices and the 10 principles of the UN Global Compact in the society.
Global Media Group, which recently joined the Global Compact as a member, and Global Management, which is included in its composition, have demonstrated their commitment to the promotion of responsible business principles in the fields of environmental, social and corporate governance (ESG) and the UN Sustainable Development Goals (SDG).
Global Media Group's Corporate Social Responsibility strategy is also based on sustainable development values and responsible business practices. Within this strategy, the group of companies continues to implement a number of initiatives. Increasing energy efficiency, automating processes, reducing waste and cooperating with relevant institutions for their processing, minimizing the use of paper documents as a result of document digitization, ensuring a fair working environment, contributing to the social environment, encouraging close cooperation by improving employees, etc. continues to contribute in these directions.
"Sustainability has become an indispensable priority in today's global business world. As Global Media Group, we are committed to building our mission on the principles of sustainability. Global Management has ISO 9001, ISO 14001 and ISO 45001 international certificates from quality management to environmental protection, from labor protection to safety.
Our participation in the UN Global Compact allows us to move forward in environmental responsibility and take sure steps in this direction. We aim to integrate the principles of sustainability into the strategy, operations and culture of the holding and the companies within it, and manage processes in a more transparent manner. All these steps help the company to play an active and responsible role in the field of sustainability and, as a result, create a positive impact from a social, environmental and economic point of view. So, based on this memorandum, Global Media Group plans to cooperate in bigger projects, not only becoming a member of the Global Agreement", said Elnur Abdullayev, chairman of the board of Global Media Group.
"Today's media plays an important role in sustainable development by raising awareness, shaping public opinion and promoting accountability on environmental, social and economic issues, thereby spurring collective action towards a more sustainable future. Global Media Group's commitment to the UN Global Compact and partnership is an important turning point not only for the stability of the company and its constituent institutions, but also for mobilizing them for the global future of the private sectors operating in Azerbaijan, which we aim to ensure", said Samir Mammadov, head of the UN Global Compact for Azerbaijan.
With the holding of the 29th session of the Conference of the Parties to the UN Framework Convention on Climate Change (COP29) in Azerbaijan and the declaration of 2024 as the "Year of Solidarity for the Green World" according to the decree of President Ilham Aliyev dated December 25, 2023, this year is a good year for our country.
